Question

Can't connect to my MySQL Cluster

I followed the tutorial here https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/databases/mysql/how-to/connect/

But when I try to connect to my server I get an error:

ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'myhostname:25060' (60)

The problem was that the IP address proposed by DigitalOcean was the wrong one

Hello @jymeissner

I’m glad that you’ve sorted this. Can you please specify what the issue with the IP address was?

Hey @jymeissner,

Have you added your IP address to the Trusted Sources list? Additionally, what way are you trying to connect to your Database, are you using a tool or you trying to connect from your cli?

I added the IP address of the “Your computer’s IP” the dashboard proposed me. Still doesn’t work.

      Hey @jymeissner,

      Open the following website:

      check your IP

Get the IP from there and add that IP in the trusted sources as described here:

      https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/databases/mysql/how-to/connect/#connect-to-the-database

I tried using the cli and MySQL Workbench, both doesn’t work

      Hello @jymeissner

You can add your IP address to the trusted sources from your DigitalOcean account and give it another try.

      https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/databases/mysql/how-to/secure/#add-a-trusted-source-using-the-control-panel

Also MySQL 5.x clients, such as Sequel Pro, are not compatible with the higher password encryption requirements of MySQL 8.x. You can change the password encryption of your database’s users if you are receiving authentication errors.

      Regards
