Changes for a better API Integration

Posted on May 24, 2013

I have a hosting website in my country (Brazil) and I like to resell DigitalOcean VPS, giving myself the support needed to my customers. I’m working in a full integration with the Digital Ocean API (that is very simple to use) but one thing that give me some problems is that the root password is only sent by e-mail. I’ll be nice if the api return the root password in some way (when create the droplet) or may be able to chang it without sending the new one via email.

I hope DigitalOcean developers think about it.

Generally it is a very bad idea to give out the password via API.

Alternatively you can write a script that retrieves your root password emails, which would solve all your problems and allow you to move on with your project rather than wait for updates.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion it has also been suggested in our UserVoice and we’ve been discussing it internally for some time now and I think we have a good method for integrating this into the current flow.

When it is integrated it will appear in the response from the API during the create call.

If it goes smooth should be ready in 1-2 days otherwise later next week. =]

Thanks
