Converting personal account to team account concerns

Posted on January 16, 2021

Hi, I am doing a school group project. We had to make a LAMP droplet and we got the server working and all and already made a domain, etc. All this information is on my own personal account. I found out I can make my personal account into a team account. I saw this guide https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/accounts/teams/how-to/create/ state that it moves all resources over to the team account. I just want to make sure that it will move my project that I made the LAMP droplet on my personal over to the team account. I am just want to make sure I don’t lose anything. So to reiterate, when I make my PERSONAL ACCOUNT into a TEAM ACCOUNT, all my projects, droplets, etc will be fine? I just make my personal account have team account privileges?

I believe so too. If not, feel free to email me (rbrown@digitalocean.com) and I will get it sorted.

Hi @llemmers1030. I can confirm, all your existing resources (droplets etc) will still exist on the team after you convert. Just to be safe though, you should make snapshot of your droplet before you update the account so you can make it again if needed (https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/). Good luck on your project!
