What is the reason for this report?

Database Size and Blockstorage

Hi

I have an old ubuntu 16 simple 5$ droplet. Mysql was installed. But it is full now -> 19GB. So I create a new 18 ubuntu server and 100gb blockstage. Blockstroge is in /mnt.

When I install mysql, it goes to install in root path so the database size is limited 20GB again.how can I use blockstorage for mysql.

you can mount the block storage under the default data location, /var/lib/mysql.

Steps would roughly be;

  1. shutdown mysql
  2. unmount /mnt
  3. mount block storage volume in /var/lib/mysql location
  4. start mysql
