DO-Agent: The repository 'main Release' does no longer have a Release file.

I get this email every day.

Subject: Cron <root@private> test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily )

E: The repository ' main Release' does no longer have a Release file.

What’s changed with the do-agent and how do I fix this?

The DO-Agent was recently updated and a re-install is required.

I’ve been getting this email since upgrading to the new DO-Agent.
Interestingly I don’t get any error if I execute /opt/digitalocean/do-agent/scripts/ manually.

I’ve just tried reinstalling again, we’ll see if it’s fixed tomorrow…

  • Oh wow, so I’m not the only one.
I thought I was the one who messed up something, but like you, I upgraded and then started getting these emails daily for about a month now.

Hey there,

My name is Ethan from the Developer Support team here at DO.

If you don’t see this issue resolved by uninstalling/reinstalling the DO-Agent we’d love to know about that in a Support Ticket.

Any information you can provide on the error(s) received and steps taken to alleviate them, the better we can help.

  • Hi Ethan,

    Thanks for the response.
Do you prefer a ticket? I’m asking in case anyone else would like to know what the solution may be in the end.

I’ve got the output of my attempt at reinstalling the agent yesterday, but I still got the daily cron mail today.

    Edit: I’ve submitted a ticket.

A reinstall didn’t help, for what it’s worth.

Did you get anywhere with the ticket?
