I have some services running on my droplet (eg. a teamspeak server), which need to be available 24/7. I noticed before when I took a manual snapshot earlier that the server was shutdown for almost 10 minutes while the snapshot was performed, is this also the case for the automated backups?

We’re in the process of rolling out LVM based hypervisors which do not require a reboot for either the snapshot or backup to be processed.

They are available right now on some of the larger size droplet sizes.
Awesome! Glad to hear that’s being worked on as it’s a deal breaker for me. For now I’ll just manually back up to make sure there isn’t a reboot at a bad time.

Also, is there any chance in the future we might be able to customise the time the automated backups run? Being able to pick a say a time period of an hour or two for the backups to run in would be useful as non-peak hours in the us for instance could still be busy times for a site catering to non-us users.
