Does Sendy/Amazon SES setup need to setup ufw Service:Mail?

Posted on April 4, 2021

I was reading UFW Essentials: Common Firewall Rules and Commands.

In this article there is a Service: Mail section to set up SMTP, IMAP, etc.

I’m setting up a Sendy which uses Amazon SES to send our weekly newsletter.

Do I need to set up as the Service: Mail section describes?

Hi there,

As far as I can see you can connect to Amazon SES on ports 465 and 587:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/smtp-connect.html

Depending on which port you will be connecting to you can allow it with:

ufw allow port_number

Hope that this helps. Regards, Bobby
