If I create a Droplet… and then want to assign a Domain Name… does the name already have to be registered somewhere? or can I just grab a name ( for example a new client and it will be their new domain name ) and assign it to my new droplet ?
I see Digital has DNS , Zone Services… A Records etc. but: I don’t understand how it can let me just grab a new name… and if so: then I guess I just wait awhile for it to propagate ? Thanks in advance for your help

you’ll need to have one registered outside of DigitalOcean as they don’t have domain name registry, but when you do get one from the many that are out there (godaddy, namecheap, etc. for test scenarios I use dot.tk), you just need to input DigitalOcean’s name servers in the name servers field where you got the domain name, and then in your DigitalOcean account dashboard go in DNS, Add domain, enter the domain name, select the droplet you will use, and that’s that.
