Question

E-mail in Cpanel is not working but site is on Digital Ocean

Hi guys,

so as I set up probably stupid question about my problem but if you can help me I’m going to be grateful.

So I created droplets on the digital ocean and set up my domain NS(1,2,3) record to DigitalOcean my website is working but my emails are not.

I have my domain on my other server as an add-on domain. Before migrating to Digital Ocean everything was working but now my Thunderbird can’t connect to the mail server.

What did I do (probably wrong)?

  1. On the GoDaddy setup nameserver to point to the digital ocean

  2. In the Digital Ocean I set up next:

A record (mail.mydomain) that is direct to IP address that I got from my hosting company

A record (mydomain) is also copied from the Cpanel of my hosting provider

one more A record is the same as this record above (don’t ask me way)

  1. In the Cpanel of my hosting provider I think that I didn’t change anything

thank you in advance for all fo your answers

Regards,

Hello there,

Keep in mind that DNS changes might some time in order to update. You can use our DNS tool to check if the records are configured properly:

Hope that this helps!

Hi @marinivandic,

Let me know if I got it correctly. Your DNS is the only thing being controlled in DigitalOcean and your e-mails/MX record should be pointing to your previous hosting as well as your root A record?

Or, have you migrated your website over to DigitalOcean and have pointed it in that direction? I’m asking as depending on the answer, the situation will be different.
