Inspired to post by users who believe Apache is required to install a control panel for stuff like WordPress site management:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/litespeed-vs-apache-for-wordpress-hosting
Apache/htaccess are the more common environment, but there are several control panels that support Nginx.
Please contribute if you want to recommend a free open source panel that supports Nginx and does not require Apache or Litespeed backend!

Hello, @rickchaz
I believe a similar discussion was already one in this question:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/lightweight-nginx-control-panel
I’ve personally used CentOS Web Panel, Vesta CP and cPanel/WHM which all have built-in support for Nginx (without reverse proxy with Apache)
