How do I access database as a superuser from app platform?

Posted on May 3, 2022

I don’t see anywhere in the settings for my database set up in app platform to manage the users, or access the password for doadmin to access superuser features like enabling Telemetry in the timescaledb extension. How would I run this ALTER DATABASE "database" SET timescaledb.telemetry_level = 'basic'

Hello,

Database values are not available during build time but are available at runtime. The default environment variables are as follows:

  • ${HOSTNAME}: Fully qualified hostname to the database.
  • ${PORT}: Port to the database.
  • ${USERNAME}: Username for the database.
  • ${PASSWORD}: Password for the database user.

Alternatively, if you are using an existing cluster, you can also pass your details as different environment variables as described here:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/app-platform/how-to/use-environment-variables/

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Bobby
