How do I install a bring your own certificate to use on my wordpress droplet

Posted on April 19, 2020

I have a “bring your own” cert and key from a CA and need to upload/install for use in my wordpress droplet. In DO account, Security, Bring your own certificate tab, how do I upload/install these items in the Certificate, Private key and Certificate chain boxes? There is no upload button. I can copy paste the key but do not know how to copy/paste a certificate. Also, I am not sure that this is even the correct location to install the certificate for use in the wordpress droplet. Thanks.

Hi there @lamfish,

The certificate section under your DigitalOcean control panel is used for securing the managed DigitalOcean services like traffic forwarding with Managed load balancers, and spaces CDN.

In order for you to install your own SSL certificate to your Droplet you have to do it manually by making all of the necessary configuration changes to your Apache Vhost and uploading your certificate directly to your Droplet. You can follow the steps on how to do that here:

Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby
