Followed the instructions for the newly created droplet with WordPress but there is no entry of <DirectoryMatch ^.*/wp-admin/> in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf. What do I do wrong?
This textbox defaults to using Markdown to format your answer.
You can type !ref in this text area to quickly search our full set of tutorials, documentation & marketplace offerings and insert the link!
If you are using the WordPress One-Click app, to remove the extra password prompt on the admin panel, edit /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and comment out or delete this section:
<DirectoryMatch ^.*/wp-admin/>
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Restricted Area"
AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/.htpasswd
Require valid-user
</DirectoryMatch>
It should be the second to last section in that file.
If you can’t find it for some reason, you can search with:
grep -nr "AuthUserFile" /etc/apache2/
I will return the file and line number:
/etc/apache2/apache2.conf:72: AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/.htpasswd
