How often is automated backup done?

I refer to your article on backups and snapshots.

Quote:

“while backups are run automatically every few days, depending on the droplet’s disk size, and must be enabled during the droplet’s creation.”

It is not clear how often is automated backup being done.

Generally backups will be run every 4 to 7 days. Here’s the backup history for one of my droplets with them enabled:

I think it’s a pretty fair representation of backup frequency.

The backups are full disk images that give you a snapshot of the entire droplet at a specific point in time. If you have mission critical information that needs to be up to date and consistent, I’d employ additional back up strategies like having a read-only database slave.

If for some reason you see that you haven’t had an automated backup happen, please file a support ticket and the team generate one one demand.
