I don’t know where to start in converting my http to https, and haven’t found information that I can follow.
I also need to know this is reversible in case it causes problems with other applications accessing the droplet that currently use the Http address. Will an http automatically be pointed to the equivalent https?

You can do that by installing an SSL certificate.
Depending on wether you are using Apache or Nginx you can follow the steps on how to obtain a free Let’s Encrypt certificate using cerbot here:

There are tools that you can use that will help you automatically to redirect HTTP to HTTPS traffic. In this day and age, HTTP shouldn’t be used at all and everything should be loaded via HTTPS so you are on the right track! Regarding the HOW TO, you need to use a package called certbot. This is the best article you can give a read to:
It will explain to you how to install the Certbot package and install Let’s Encrypt with it, a free SSL you can use. Additionally, certbot will automatically configure your Nginx so that your Domain redirects from HTTP to HTTPS.
