Question

How to setup a WP blog on different droplet pointed to by subdirectory URL like xyz.com/blog

I have a website domain.com (php+mysql) running on a single droplet. I need to run a Wordpress blog on sub URL domain.com/blog and host that Wordpress on a separate droplet for security and performance reason.

How can I point domain.com/blog to this droplet/IP? I know this is not possible in truest sense but I am ready to try some hacks like through .htaccess in worst case.

Hi @dontstop99

You cannot use the same domain with different droplets like this.

here are your options:

  • Use a subdomain for the new droplet.
  • Use a bigger droplet to host everything on it.
  • Use haproxy load balancer to send traffic destined for domain.com/blog to your new droplet.

Please select one solution and let me know if you need more help.

Hope this helps.
