Hi there,

Without more context it is hard to say for sure, but the most common reasons for an unexpected bill increase are:

  • A new resource was created and not destroyed, like a Droplet, volume, or load balancer
  • A Droplet was resized to a larger plan
  • Snapshot or backup storage growing over time
  • Bandwidth overage charges

The best place to start is the Billing section in your control panel. Go to Billing > Usage and you can see a breakdown by resource for the current month, which should make it obvious what changed.

If everything looks unfamiliar or you cannot figure out what caused the spike, open a support ticket at https://cloud.digitalocean.com/support and the billing team can walk through it with you.

Best move is just go into Billing → Usage and compare what’s active now versus before. That usually makes the culprit pretty obvious.

Also keep in mind “next month” is projected based on your current setup staying active the whole cycle, so even a recent upgrade or temporary resource can make that number look scary. Usually there’s a specific resource behin
