IP Address for adding a new Domain? Also no response from whois after nameserver change

Hi–

First time web-dev here. I’m really hoping to get this project turned around by Friday, and any clarification would honestly mean the world.

I changed the nameservers for my GoDaddy domain name to the ones listed in this tutorial https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-point-to-digitalocean-nameservers-from-common-domain-registrars and followed all subsequent steps.

Unfortunately, I’m now I’m stalled at Step 3 of this tutorial. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-a-host-name-with-digitalocean

It states running ‘whois <mysite.xyz>’ should now be returning some information as a result of the change in nameservers. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to have propagated, and I’m not sure if that’s a sign that I need to wait longer, or that GoDaddy has somehow dropping the ball.

Additionally I’d really appreciate some clarification when adding a new Domain Name to the DNS. The tutorial states to enter an IP Address, however I would have assumed the IP address in question is for our droplet – as this is the only one previously discussed. This seems redundant given we are selecting our droplet right next to this box – do I leave it blank, or enter in the droplet IP?

Is there a more advanced purpose for this that I’m missing, because I’m not entirely sure which IP address I’m meant to be entering here.

I realize this is probably quite elementary, however I’m more confused than I’d like to admit, and some clarification would be really really really appreciated.

(also, I chose a .xyz domain name for purely aesthetic reasons. If anybody knows about how long this will take to be viewable after the change in nameserver I’d really appreciate it)
