That guy.

I’ve created a droplet on my account, but the client is now convinced that DigitalOcean is the way to go. I brought them from AWS, EC2.

Greetings!

There are a couple of different ways to go here. I can’t say one is better than the other, it really depends on your perspective.

  1. Transfer snapshot. You can create a snapshot, transfer it to another user, and create a new droplet on their account from the snapshot. This does mean a new IP, and may require additional configuration if anything you’ve set up doesn’t move to a new IP seamlessly.

  2. Create a team for the cilent, invite them. Now you both have access, and your personal (or other cilent) droplets are not visible to the client.

The downside to both of these is that you really can’t move the existing droplet except under one condition:

  • Your account has no other droplets and you don’t mind converting it to a team (option available when creating a team). Then you can invite them to the team, but still switch back to your personal account later and use it separately.

If your existing account has things in it that they shouldn’t be able to access, there’s really not a way out that doesn’t involve creating the droplet under a new account. Though, transferring a snapshot may be quite painless, it just depends on your situation.
