Just want to add that we don’t have any current plans to open a datacenter in Japan. If this is something you’d like to see, you can “vote” for it over on our UserVoice page. Obviously, the votes on UserVoice are only one part of the decision making process, but it does help us gage demand.
If you’re experiencing high latency to Singapore from Japan, could you please open a support ticket including a traceroute to the droplet? That would help our networking team diagnose the issue.
Digital Ocean does not currently have a Tokyo data center. Singapore would be the closest alternative.
