Laravel App Platform - Application Logs?

Posted on August 31, 2021

I have trying to assess if we can utilise App Platform for our production environment.

We are currently using AWS with a autoscaling beanstalk configuration for Laravel, I think the move to App Platform would give us the simplicity we desire.

However, it seems we have a few things missing for a full production environment. Mostly logging…

For those using App Platform how are you managing your application logs?

Bonus points - anyone got any resources showing how autoscaling (horizontal) works without me going and setting it up?

been using logtail.com for logging for a while now and it’s amazing

I would suggest to use different log channel of Laravel, avoiding default file system logging, as it will be cleared at every deployment, and may split up between pods when comes to scaling. You could create a logger for example using the Digital Ocean spaces block storage, which is cheap and fast, or utilize MongoDB, or external logging provider like DataDog, This has not much to do with APP platform, this is provided by Laravel framework.
