Hello!
TLDR: Do any of you have Loggly receiving the logs from a Django app deployed in the App Platform?
I have loggly working fine in other projects that are not hosted in DO and are sending the logs fine, but I couldn’t manage to have it working for a project deployed in the app platform.
In the “How to Forward Logs in App Platform” says: “Currently, App Platform supports log forwarding to Papertrail, Datadog, and Logtail.”
According to this, I understand Loggly should not work, but then is mentioned here: https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/loggly
It would be very helpful to confirm if it’s possible or not to have this setup working to decide to continue investigating the issue or not.
Many thanks! Pere

Hello Pere,
The confusion here seems to stem from a common misunderstanding regarding the integration capabilities between DigitalOcean’s App Platform and the services listed in the DigitalOcean Marketplace, such as Loggly.
The link you referred to in the DigitalOcean Marketplace for Loggly is indeed for integrating Loggly with DigitalOcean, but it’s important to note that this integration is specifically designed for Droplets, not the App Platform. The DigitalOcean Marketplace primarily provides tools, software, and services that are compatible with Droplets, which are DigitalOcean’s virtual machines as well as the DigitalOcean Managed Kubernetes offering.
As per the information provided in the “How to Forward Logs in App Platform” guide, the App Platform currently supports log forwarding to Papertrail, Datadog, and Logtail. This list does not include Loggly. This means that while Loggly can work seamlessly with Droplets, its integration is not directly supported or facilitated on the App Platform.
Given this, if you are looking to integrate Loggly specifically with a Django application deployed on the App Platform, you might face challenges due to the lack of direct support for this integration. While it might be technically possible to configure a workaround, it would likely require a more complex setup and potentially custom solutions, which could be more time-consuming and less reliable than using supported services like Papertrail, Datadog, or Logtail.
The best thing to do to get your voice heard regarding this would be to head over to our Product Ideas board and post a new idea, including as much information as possible for what you’d like to see implemented.
Hope that helps!
