Hello, we have a small application running on a droplet and this application receives an average of 160 requests / minutes and performs some CRUD operations on the database. In each request, a connection is opened with the database and closed just before the response.
Despite the small number of requests, every minute the data is updated in the database, so we thought about activating the digital ocean managed database, so we don’t have to worry about backups.
Would the $ 15 usd plan of the managed mysql database be enough for a small application like this? Or is this plan indicated only for development or testing?

Hi there,
I believe that 160 requests per minute should be OK, this is a little bit less than 3 queries per second. However, it really depends on the complexity of the queries and the amount of data. If you are doing a lot of selects, I could suggest adding some indexes.
Also what I could suggest is testing your application and see how it performs. You could deploy a managed cluster and only keep it running for a few hours and use it to do some load testing. After the tests, you could destroy the cluster and would be charged only for the time when the cluster was up and running.
