Migrating a justhost website and email over to digitalocean

Posted on August 11, 2015

I am moving my justhost website and email over to digitalocean.

  1. My emails need migrating from JustHost but I want to preserve my domain name… can this be done with imapsync? I mean, I can’t have mydomain.com point to both justhost and digitalocean at the same time.

  2. The website will be based on Hexo so that will run on nodejs. I can migrate my current site from Ghost using https://github.com/jasonslyvia/hexo-migrator-ghost

  3. I also run owncloud, which is php based. I could run both node and php with this setup but cozy.io is a nodejs version that looks awesome… does anybody have any experience of Cozy?

  4. vestacp looks like a decent CP but I am not sure if it is overkill for such a simple setup.

Really, any advice would be appreciated… particularly when it comes to question 1.

Keep your email on another host. Managing your own email on your own server is going to cause you so many headaches. Keep your email on another host and just simply point your MX Records towards them, it will work fine.
