Multiple Hosting Providers

Posted on October 14, 2016

Hi,

I would like to host my subdomain with Digital Ocean and my main domain with a different provider, such as Namecheap.

Would this be possible? Currently my DNS settings are pointing to Digital Ocean, but I would prefer to have my main domain on a different provider.

Thanks in advance for any help or assistance.

That is certainly possible.

All you need to do is point your DNS records for to the provider of choice.

So if your subdomain, say content.domain.com, is to be on DigitalOcean just create an A record that points that domain to your DO IP address.

And then your main record can point to the IP address of your domain.com to your other provider.

These settings can also be adjusted on any DNS provider, whether your use our DNS servers, or someone else.
