I’m setting up a Droplet and the pricing calculator (https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing/calculator/) shows with a basic Droplet I can add as much storage (or transfer) as I want without adding cost. Is this true, or just a bug with the calculator? If true, how is this accomplished?

Unfortunately it’s a bug in the calculator thank you for letting us know.
Each droplet comes with a specified amount of bandwidth which is pooled across all of your droplets and then extra bandwidth is just $0.01 cents per GB.
In regards to storage you can find out pricing for object storage here:
Object Storage: https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing/#spaces-object-storage
And Block Storage is just $0.10 cents per GB per month.
