What mail client are you using?

Also do you have a self-signed or free cert? Depending on the mail client it may be rejecting it for that reason, but that is just a guess.

Does the mail client return a specific error message that might have more info?
I use self signed cert. Using thunderbird as client.
Error msg: try translate from dutch to english

Failed to send message.
An error occurred while sending e-mail: Failed to make a secure connection. With SMTP server mail.160bpm.com using STARTTLS Switching STARTTLS for that server or contact your service provider.
