Pricing Calculator - Managed disks or Block Storage not available

Posted on July 17, 2026

Hi Team,

I’m trying to estimate pricing of storage resourcs, the storage is required for Kubernees Cluster and will be used as PVC.

The available options are Spaces Object storage and Network File Storage, Where is Volume Storage or Managed disk storage.

Kindly advise.

Thanks.

Heya,

What you’re calling managed disk or Volume storage is DigitalOcean’s Block Storage Volumes, and that’s exactly what backs a PVC on a Kubernetes cluster. When you create a PersistentVolumeClaim on DOKS with the default do-block-storage StorageClass, the CSI driver provisions a Block Storage Volume behind it. So that’s the line you want to estimate against, not Spaces (which is object storage and can’t be mounted as a filesystem PVC) or the Network File Storage option.

For the number, Block Storage Volumes are $0.10 per GiB per month, sized from 1 GiB up to 16 TiB, billed hourly for as long as the volume exists whether or not it’s attached to anything. So a 100 GiB PVC works out to about $10/month, 500 GiB to about $50, and so on. The rate is flat per GiB, so estimating is just your total PVC capacity times $0.10.

The reason it isn’t jumping out in the calculator is that Block Storage tends to show up tied to the compute or Kubernetes config rather than as a standalone managed-disk product the way Spaces and Network File Storage do. But for Kubernetes PVCs, Block Storage Volumes is the right one to price.

Heya,

One thing worth budgeting for on top of that if you’re using it for PVCs specifically: volume snapshots are priced separately at $0.06 per GiB per month, with a $0.01 minimum charge. If your backup strategy for the cluster takes CSI snapshots of those PVCs, whether through Velero or a VolumeSnapshotClass directly, that’s an extra line item the calculator won’t show you either, and it can add up if you’re keeping several snapshot generations around per volume.
