Putty closes down automatically

Posted on January 29, 2016

I’m unable to do anything in Putty. I just created a droplet, but when I try to access my server via putty, it closes down when I try to change the root password.

Any idea what’s happening? Yesterday I had no such problems.

EDIT: Ok, it’s not just putty. the console access is also acting up.

When you log into a new droplet you are prompted to change your pre-configured root password. The prompts are as follows:

Enter your current password (to login) Enter your current password (to verify) Enter your new password

If you enter an incorrect current password in either of those first two prompts the session is ended which disconnects putty or sends the console back to the initial login.
