Our droplet is not able to fully start again and we’d like to salvage a few items from the file system. Is there a way to boot up our CoreOS droplet in recovery mode and then sftp to it?

I’ve managed to recover a broken CoreOS installation with BTRFS, with the Recovery ISO environment, using the following procedure:
- Enable networking
- Add the “wheezy-backports” repository to the /etc/apt/sources.list file - as detailed here: http://backports.debian.org/Instructions/
- run
apt-get -t wheezy-backports install btrfs-tools - use btrfsck and friends to fix your system
Yes. If you open a ticket with our support team they can set your droplet to boot to a recovery ISO. This recovery environment will allow you to mount your filesystem and enable an ssh server that supports sftp in the recovery environment in order to download any files you need to back up.
