SSH Key pair access implications - Webmin

Posted on June 3, 2014

Hi, I have my SSH key pair access working and was wondering about any implications for remote admin via a console like webmin if I now disable root password access. I guess since this is not technically remote access but webmin logged in as root locally, it should all be fine??

Cheers Mark

That should be fine. You probably want to make sure that users with sudo privileges can log in as root first. Go to “Webmin > Webmin Users > Unix User Authentication” and enable the option “Allow users who can run all commands via sudo to login as root”

Thanks once again! I’ll watch out for that.
