I have trying my best to perform a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and instead of seeing a successful message after typing this command on the terminal console I got this message on the screen: http://imgur.com/O059IQC. That is the screenshot of the message the console gives me. The following are the steps I made prior to making the sudo apt-get dist-upgrade terminal command:

  1. sudo apt-get update
  2. sudo apt-get upgrade
  3. sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.

Your version of Ubuntu has been unmaintained for the past year.

You will need to upgrade to version of Ubuntu that is still supported. 14.04 is an LTS release (Long Term Support) and would last you a few years.
