Sudo non-root and root user merging of a droplet?

Hi, so I’ve created a root user and non-root user for a droplet (non-root user has sudo privileges).

Is there a command I can run to “sync” the two users up? I.e., I have a github directory I installed as the root user, but I can’t access it from the non-root user.

The reason why I created the non-root user was to establish a firewall connection that only allowed two specific types of connection to the Droplet as detailed herehttps://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/initial-server-setup-with-ubuntu-20-04\

Thanks

Hi @j93hahn,

If your non-root user has sudo access, it should be possible to access anything even what the root user has created. What you can try and do is:

sudo cd /path/to/dir

This should work. If it doesn’t then you don’t have sudo privillages on your user.

Additionally, on the sudo user (non root), you can try:

sudo -i

If it works it will log you as root from the non-root user.
