Hey @dxublegrblx,

It is possible that port 25 is closed for new accounts. This is something we have been doing to reduce spam on our network. Please do not think that we are accusing you of sending spam, it is more that we simply cannot accurately determine who is going to send it.

Stopping spam is a constant fight, so we have implemented some restrictions on newer accounts. To qualify for the ability to send out emails, we do require accounts to wait 60 days before we can look into removing the restriction. Once your account has reached 60 days of stable use, please do reach back out to us so we can look into this for you.

You can also use a third party mail provider like SendGrid in order to avoid issues like this one. I’ll also recommend checking this article:

Hope that helps!

Hi there,

SMTP port 25 is blocked on all Droplets for new accounts to prevent spam and other abuses of our platform.

Even if SMTP were available, DigitalOcean strongly recommends against running your own mail server in favor of using a dedicated email deliverability platform. Dedicated email deliverability platforms are better at handling deliverability factors like IP reputation.

To send mail from DigitalOcean, they recommend using SendGrid via the SendGrid Marketplace 1-Click App.

You could also use port 587 or 465 instead.
