Any idea when an official Ubuntu 16.04 DigitalOcean droplet is going to be released?

Ubuntu 16.04 is an option now.

Here’s a response from support when I asked the same question on Monday 4/18. It seems like it will come same day (4/21) or soon thereafter.

The beta is in testing right now and we’re preparing for the final release. As long as there are no unforeseen issues it should be released the same day or within a day or two after. We do want to make sure that the default image for all our builds is up to our standards before enabling it :)

It is now an option in the droplet selection. Also check out this community Initial Ubuntu setup documentation, quite handy.
