failed to connect to port 443

Posted on July 13, 2021

I am unable to perform curl request for an address. I’ve already added port 443 in ufw, but it keeps giving this error.

curl: (28) Failed to connect to api.unimedteresina.com.br port 443: Connection timed out

Hi there,

In order to be able to access port 443 in most cases, you would need to have an SSL certificate installed.

You could for example use a free SSL certificate issued by Let’s Encrypt and certbot as per this tutorial here:

  • For Apache:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-secure-apache-with-let-s-encrypt-on-ubuntu-18-04

  • For Nginx:

Let me know how it goes. Regards, Bobby
