how to copy rsa key to new dir

hi i’m trying to copy my rsa key to a new directory like this scp ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub deploy@url.com:~/.ssh/authorized_keys it displays this " ‘scp’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. " i dnt know what to do to fix that thanks

It’s a *nix command, it won’t work on Windows by default.

What happens when you only type scp without arguments?

Also, save yourself the trouble and use ssh-copy-id to copy your key to the destination server.

Finally, @Woet is correct; the error message you pasted is the standard Windows error message when an invalid command is typed. Looks like you inadvertently typed your scp command in a Windows command shell instead of putty.
