Question

How to set a traffic limit to avoid unwanted charges?

I read that If the outbound transfer exceeds the amount included with my Droplets at end of the cycle, I will be charged $0.01 per excess gigabyte.

I am concerned about this potential automatic charge.

Is there a way to automatically disable droplet in case the limit is reached?

Alternatively, are there any ways through a firewall to set this limit and block excess traffic or turn off the droplet?

Hey @iljkr,

I don’t believe that this is currently possible but it sounds like an interesting idea.

The best thing to do to get your voice heard regarding this would be to head over to our Product Ideas board and post a new idea, including as much information as possible for what you’d like to see implemented.

In the meantime what you could do is to setup Billing alerts so that you get early notifications when you reach a certain usage amount. You can do that via your Control Panel -> then go to Billing -> then under Billing Alerts hit the ‘Add Alert’ button.

Hope that helps! - Bobby.

Is this still not possible ?.. Any suggestions on digitalocean alternative that has this feature?

It’s not possible.
