'hypervisor is under maintenance' message in the droplet dashboard. More than 2 hours since droplet is dead. solution?

More than 2 hours since droplet is dead. Controls in the dashboard to power-off droplet are not working. Unable to access console.

The most common cause of this problem is that your service have not been configure to start automatically. So when the hypervisor is rebooted as part of the maintenance, the applications on the Droplet are not started when it comes back online.
