If I create a NodeJS DigitalOcean “App” (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/apps/new) on the third screen I am choosing the tier (1GB, 2GB, 4GB, …).
Is it possible to set up automatic scaling for my app? (I read that DigitalOcean advertises “Scale your App” - but I can’t figure it out how is that possible except for Kubernetes)

Thanks for a great question, also great name!
Currently App Platform does not autoscale apps. You’d have to do that manually by increasing the size of the instance(s), or the quantity of instances.
My colleague Mason did a deploy talk on the topic you might find interesting: Grow Your Business with Scalable Apps Using DigitalOcean App Platform.
All of that said, autoscaling is on our radar though I do not have a timeline I can share at this point.
