Shared code between NodeJS serverless functions?

Hey everyone!

I’m experimenting with DO Functions, and I have a simple question in mind and having trouble finding the answer.

I want to know how I can shared code among functions? Assuming I have helpers.js file with helper functions I want to re-use among my Serverless Functions, how can I import this? Considering the functions are isolated by directory.

Hi there,

What you could do is use a lib directory as described in the docs here:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/functions/reference/build-process/#project-files-used-for-builds

The contents of the lib folder and the contents of each function’s directory affect what is included in each deployed function and how that function is built.

Here is also an example project that might help:

https://github.com/digitalocean/sample-functions-todo/tree/main

Hope that this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Bobby
