Question

Amount Billed for Requests made to a GPU instance that is always on

Based on the pricing of paperspace - https://www.paperspace.com/pricing

I create a $2.24 / hr instance and keep it always running - I want my website which would be on digitalocean droplet, but the AI calls would be on paperspace - so if I made some 5000 calls to my AI models paperspace, would I be billed $1612 or only when the calls to the 5000 requests were made ?

Heya @anjanesh,

I don’t know about Paperspace however I can try and help with DigitalOcean billing.

Firstly, DigitalOcean billing cycles are monthly. Your account balance accrues over the course of the calendar month based on the cost of the resources you use. The cost would be a sum of the Droplet’s price + bandwidth that’s used.

Droplets include free outbound data transfer, starting at 500 GiB/month for the smallest plan. Bandwidth allowances are determined by the Droplet’s size and type.

Excess data transfer is billed at $0.01 per GiB. Inbound bandwidth to Droplets is always free. To calculate bandwidth costs for your Droplets and databases, use our Bandwidth Calculator.

Basically, you will get billed based on the bandwidth you generate, use but for 5000 calls you won’t be billed 1612$ at DigitalOcean, I can promise you that. It’s a lot less, basically the amount of bandwidth would be based on the data you send over it.

I am referring to the paperspace product for GPU usage.

Heya,

You can double check the information on the FAQ part of their pricing page, I believe it is well explained.

As of our pricing - You will never be billed more than the monthly cost of your Droplet. All Droplets are billed hourly up to a monthly cap of 672 hours (the number of hours in 4 weeks). If you use your server for fewer than 672 hours during the month, you will be billed for each hour that you used it. If you use your server for more than 672 hours that month, you will be billed at the monthly cost. For example, if you spin up a $10/mo Droplet and use it for 336 hours, then you would be charged $5 (going by the hourly rate). If you use that Droplet for 700 hours, then you would be charged $10 (capped at the monthly rate).
