App Platform support for node v18?

Node v18 has been out for almost a year. Is there a timeline for when App Platform will support it?

Node v16 is set to reach end of life in September, so it’s pretty undesirable to be pushing new v16 apps to prod right now. Also, you probably want at least several months of v18 support before then so that everyone running a node app on App Platform has time to upgrade.

There are also libraries coming out that only support v18 and above.

Hey @drobshark,

I believe that there isn’t an official ETA just yet but is indeed planned. I will forward your feedback internally!

It looks like someone has had the same idea before and has posted it on our Product Ideas board, you can upvote it here:

I’ve just gone ahead and also upvoted it.

Svelte Kit is a notable member of those apps that need NodeJS >= 18. I’m fine running from an Ansible-configured droplet but I’ll watch this thread to see when I can play with moving over to DO apps.
