Hi, we have in production an App with this specs
- 1 Static Site
- 1 Service
- 1 Mongo DB
- 1 Redis DB
Now we want to perform a major update, and we need to change the specs adding a new Service, also updating the environment variables
To do this operation it’s possible to simply download the App Spec .yaml from the DO App Setting page, update it with the new service, and re-upload it?
There can be problems with the current encrypted variables? There can be problems with the connections to the databases?

Great questions. The existing encrypted secrets will continue to work as long as you’re uploading the app spec to the same app.
If you’re changing the secrets or uploading to another app then rewriting those secrets in plaintext (while leaving them as secrets) will encrypt them on upload.
As far as DB connections go, if you’re using bind variables to inject DB credentials those will keep working between spec changes. If you have manually set the credentials those should also keep working as expected.
