Question

Automatic Migrations for Django on App Platform

Hi, I recently setup a new app using Django on DigitalOcean app platform. When developing locally, I run python manage.py makemigrations and these are included in git. When I push to git and DigitalOcean redeploys my app, I still have to go into the console and run python manage.py migrate. Is this something I can automate, and if so, how?

Short answer, for the record:

  • Go the settings tab of your app
  • Select the web service component
  • In the run command, add ./manage.py migrate
