Question

How to get files from app platform?

Hi everyone, I followed the tutorial to deploy a Django app to the app platform. My question is, how do I get files from the app platform? Example: "python manage.py dumpdata > db.json is exporting my data as a JSON file. I could use this data to run some tests with “live data” offline in dev mode. But how do I get this file downloaded? Could someone give me a hint? Just checking it in with git was my first idea, but this was unfortunately not working. Thanks Sebastian

👋 @sefriedrich

App Platform uses ephemeral filesystems so on each deploy all changes that happen during that deployment are lost.

Two options you could try are:

  1. Add a HTTP route on your app that lets you download the file (make sure this route is secured).
  2. Upload your file to DigitalOcean Spaces and then download them to your dev machine (or wherever you need the data).
