Question

How to login as root in App Platform console

I want to install python locale languages so that my app will work with local language. The problem is that when i try to install it, console says that i have to login as a root. I tried to login with “sudo root” but it return bash: sudo: command not found.

My two questions are

  1. How to login as root in console?
  2. If question 1 is not possible is there a way to install languages by putting them into requirements file?

Hi @smalllapisangler,

As mentioned by @biliev, the App Platform does not allow root login as it’s considered a managed platform. As such people do not have root access at any level.

Hello,

The App Platform does not come with root access. You could modify your requirements.txt file locally and then commit it to your GitHub project so that it would be available during the app build and deploy process.

If there are specific packages that you need to install, you could use a Dockerfile as described here:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/app-platform/languages-frameworks/docker/

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Bobby
