When is FreeBSD 13.0 going to be a supported droplet at DigitalOcean?

Posted on November 15, 2021

Dear all,

I’m planning an upgrade of my droplets from FreeBSD 12 to 13, however I still don’t see supported droplets for FreeBSD 13.0 at DigitalOcean as of November 15th 2021.

Notice FreeBSD 13 was released back in April.

Is there any official date for the support at DigitalOcean on FreeBSD 13.0 droplets?

Shall I open a support ticket?

Thanks for any replies and your time.

Wish I had good news for you, but I’ve been waiting on this too. I had a few broken upgrade attempts earlier this year and I’m eagerly awaiting.

I have one droplet I could stand to lose, I may give it a go this upcoming weekend. If I do that I’ll report back here.

No need to wait. Just go to https://bsd-cloud-image.org/, download the image you like, upload it as a custom image with unknown OS type. Once your image is ready, create a droplet with your SSL key. You can then ssh in with the pre-set ‘freebsd’ user. Then sudo su. If you need the recovery boot selector instead of fast boot, edit /boot/loader.conf, change autoboot_delay to 30 and change the console order to vidconsole, comconsole. Hope this helps!

I would also like to see support for this out of the box. For now I manually update the sources/recompile and it works fine as a 12 image.
