How does bandwidth on digital ocean static sites work (free tier)?

Hi, I was using app platform and want to roll-out a website that will be accessible to the public. On the free tier, it states that app platform costs £0 a month, with 3 static sites for free. However, it also states a extra bandwidth cost.

Do static sites use my bandwidth allowance to serve website visiters?

If so beyond 1gb a month (the static site allowance?), is my account automatically changed for excess or does the app simply shut down (I’d prefer it to shut down)

Am I also protected from DDOS or unexpected spikes in usage?

Any help would be appreciated?

👋 @omclam

Bandwidth overages do apply to static sites. We include 1GB of bandwidth per static site which is pooled (eg. An account with 3 free static sites gets 3GB of bandwidth that is shared).

The account is automatically billed when the bandwidth limit is exceeded at 0.10/GB.

App Platform uses CloudFlare DDoS protection. If your site is under attack please reach out to our support.
