The size of the server would really depend on the site itself and how the traffic is spread throughout the day. For example, if you get 500 hits evenly distributed throughout the day this makes about 20 visits per hour which can be handled with a small server, however, if you get the 500 hits in a burst, then you might need a more powerful server.
I would recommend the following:
- You need to make sure that your website is well optimized, for example, install a good caching plugin, remove any unnecessary plugins, etc.
- Sign up for a CDN like Cloudflare.
- Make sure that the server that you choose has enough disk space to store all of your files.
Finally, you can start with a smaller server and scale up at any time if your traffic grows.
